Attendance at CJS

We  truly love seeing your child in school everyday! At CJS we  value good attendance (over 96%)  as it helps children to be more successful at school. Children who are frequently absent are at risk of falling behind  with their learning, might struggle with friendships and will miss out on a variety of opportunities.

As parents, you have a legal responsibility to ensure your child attends school regularly. Did you know that children attend school for 190 days a year? This leaves 175 non-school days for holidays, cultural experiences, birthday treats, appointments and family time.

We appreciate that everyone’s circumstances are different, and that some families will need support at different times of their child’s school life. CJS welcome parents and carers to meet with staff to help with any barriers you are facing with attendance.

Attendance over one school year:

If a pupil has:

98% attendance = less than 4 days absent from school

95% attendance = less than 10 days absent from school

90% attendance = 4 weeks absent from school

85% attendance = 5 ½ weeks absent from school

80% attendance = 7 ½ weeks absent from school
